Peas love cool weather. Plant them early in the Spring as soon as the ground can be worked. Peas are best planted 4-6 weeks before the last frost when the soil is at least 45F. Be careful choosing a spot that will not get inundated with melting snow or spring rainfalls.
Sow seeds 1" deep and 2" apart, in rows 12-24" apart. Trellis the seedlings when young so as not to disturb the roots or growth. Water lightly as it is likely the ground will be moist enough. Only water if the plants are wilting. Weed carefully since roots are fragile and shallow. Sow more peas 6-8 weeks later for successive harvests.
