Brassica oleracea var. botrytis "Snowball"

A cold-weather lover, this cauliflower produces pure white heads that average 6-8”. Cool weather sends the leaves curling around the head, protecting it and in the process, preventing it from discoloration.

Planting Instructions
Type: Annual
Sun: Full
Planting Depth: 1/4”
Spacing: 12”
Water: Moderate
Days to Maturity/Bloom: 65-75 days
Height: 24-30”
Zones: 3-10

Approx seeds per order 1000

A cold-season vegetable, cauliflower should be planted outside as soon as the ground can be worked. It can be direct seeded or transplanted 2-3 weeks before the last frost. Many people start them indoors 4-6 weeks beforehand so they will be ready to harvest in the summer.

Once it gets really hot out, the plants will bolt and stop producing. The goal is to have cauliflower reach maturity before the heat of summer sets in.

Warmer climates should do plantings 85-100 days before the first frost of fall so the plants will be growing in cooler weather. This usually means planting in mid summer.

Sow the seeds 1/4-1/2” deep and 12-24” apart. Rows should be 36” apart. Plant cauliflower in full sun or the plant may become leggy and produce small heads.
