Lupinus perennis
Indigo-blue spire blooms ensure this classic flower always stands out. Growing up to 36” tall, they are hard to miss, especially en masse. Tall, erect, stems are covered densely in 1/2” pea-shaped flowers. Deer-resistant and easy to grow.
Planting Instructions
Type: PerennialSun: Full
Planting Depth: Broadcast
Spacing: Broadcast
Water: Moderate/Low
Days to Maturity/Bloom: 65-80 days
Height: 12-36”
Zones: 3-12
Approx seeds per order 300
Sow outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Or, start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost and transplant seedlings.
Plant seeds individually or broadcast them over an area and thin them out as needed.
Brush an 1/8-1/4” layer of soil over the seeds, so they are just covered. Do not bury them – they need sun to germinate. Water the seeds directly after planting and then water consistently throughout the season. Too many flower seedlings will compete for nutrients and space, so be sure to thin them once they reach a few inches tall.
