The Lemon Habañero, also known as Yellow Habañero, is a lantern-shaped chili that matures from green to lemon yellow. The pods grow to about 5 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, and have a distinctive fruity and citrusy taste (and, according to some, even an apricot-like aroma). This gnarly pepper has a lemon/apricot scent and a very waxy pod. Heat Units: 150,000 - 325,000 SHUs. This pepper packs a hot spicy punch! Sowing. Indoor Feb-Mar. Outdoor May-June. - The Lemon Habañero is extremely hot. Great for flavor and salsas! Start pepper seeds indoors in peat pots about 8 weeks before the last expected spring frost. Sow them 1/4" deep and keep the soil at 80-85 degrees F until germination; provide sunlight or a grow light for 12-16 hours a day.
- Keep the soil evenly moist and weeds under control; mulching the plants may help with this. If excess heat and sun cause the plants to wilt, provide shade.
