Cucumis melo "Delicous 51"

Sweet orange flesh with a huge taste. Round, dense fruits weighing 4-5 lbs with a small seed cavity. High-yielding and early-maturing. Aromatic and an excellent breakfast fruit! Resistant to fusarium wilt and powdery mildew.

Planting Instructions
Type: Annual
Sun: Full
Planting Depth: 1/4”
Spacing: 18”
Water: Moderate/
Days to Maturity/Bloom: 80 days
Height: 3-10' vining
Zones: 4-10

Melons have a long growing period. Check days to maturity before purchasing to ensure it can grow in your climate.

Plant 3-4 seeds 1" deep in small mounds 3' apart. Melon vines need ample space to spread out. Vines may be trained to grow up a trellis or support system. Trellising works best with smaller fruit varieties. Larger fruits will likely break off the vine before maturity if they are trellised. Melons may also be planted in rows 6'x6' apart.

Start seeds indoors to get a jumpstart. Then, transplant seedlings outdoors well after all danger of frost has passed. Melon seedlings are extremely tender and cold temperatures will kill them. Soil must be 65F or higher. Place transplanted seedlings in groups of three.

Melons need approximately 2" of water per week, while growing. Once the fruit starts to set, reduce watering for a sweeter melon.

Approx seeds per order 50
