Cucurbita pepo "Early Prolific Straightneck"

An early and prolific producer (as the the name states!), this squash is a popular heirloom. Yields multitudes of 6-8” creamy lemon-yellow colored fruits. Great for summer grilling, stuffing, and baking.

🌱 Planting Instructions
Type: Annual
Sun: Full
Planting Depth: 1/2”
Spacing: 24-36”
Water: Moderate
Days to Maturity/Bloom: 50 days
Height: 24-30”
Zones: 3-9

Approx seeds per order 50

Zucchini and summer squash do not transplant well so it is best to direct sow. They have a short growing season so this isn't an issue in most climates. Wait to plant until the soil temperature is above 60F. If you have a short season, it is possible, but not ideal, to start seeds indoors 2-4 weeks before the last frost.

Plant squash in full sun. They are wide bush-like plants that need space so make sure there is 2-3 feet between each plant. Sow seeds 1” deep.

Frequent and consistent watering is important – at least 1” per week. Once the plants start producing fruit, check every day for harvest as it grows fast and furious. Harvest squash while young – once it gets big it loses flavor and gets overly seedy.
