Phaseolus vulgaris "Tendergreen"
An heirloom from the 1920's, this bush bean is still a garden favorite. Tendergreen Bush Beans are a variety of green bean plant that grows in a compact, bush-like shape without requiring support. They are known for their dark green, tender pods that are typically harvested when they are young and slender. Tendergreen Bush Beans have a mild, sweet flavor and a crisp texture that makes them a popular choice for fresh eating, canning, and freezing. They are also a good source of vitamins A and C, as well as dietary fiber. Tendergreen Bush Beans are a reliable and easy-to-grow choice for home gardeners, and are adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions.

Plant bean seeds after all danger of frost has passed, and soil temperature is 48F minimum. Plants need 6-8 hours sunlight per day. Sow seeds 1" deep, 4-6" apart, in rows that are 2-3' apart. Seeds may be started indoors.
Water deeply and regularly. Weed carefully as they have shallow roots.
Bush beans mature all at the same time and must be harvested at once. If allowed to sit longer than a day or two, the flavor suffers.
Plant a new crop every two weeks for a continuous harvest. Bush beans may be grown in containers.
